Team Liquid and Shopify Rebellion Series
Both teams have already made the playoffs, they are playing for seeding in the upper bracket.
With nothing to lose, Team Liquid chose this opportunity to debut their rookie jungler, Yuuji over UmTi. Team Liquid signed Yuuji mere weeks ago as the team’s sixth man. The reason for the signing was due to inconsistent play from UmTi. By introducing competition, TL is hoping to bring out more from the “General” who has been in a bit of a slump lately.
Yuuji is the very first two-time NACL MVP (Most valuable prospect).
Game 1
CoreJJ began the game as a large nuisance to Contractz in the jungle with multiple invades and disruptions. He forced Shopify Rebellion’s mid and bot lane to spend time and many resources guarding the bot-side jungle. While CoreJJ was harassing Contractz in the jungle, Yuuji took the opportunity to invade Shopify’s top-side jungle. Core’s efforts disrupted Contractz from doing his job, which helped the rookie jungler, Yuuji get an early lead. Six minutes into the game, Yuuji led Contractz by 30 CS and two entire levels. There were no kills from CoreJJ during this time, but there did not need to be. Disrupting the meticulous timing Contractz needed to clear his jungle objectives was enough of a victory.
As a result of such a great early game, Team Liquid secured all three major early objectives in the Void Grubs and two dragons. Just 14 minutes into the game, without any kills, they held a 3.6k gold lead over Shopify Rebellion. Over the course of the season, Team Liquid remained 6-0 when holding a lead at 14 minutes.
Shopify was in a tough spot and they knew they needed to create an opening. They saw a chance and sent three embers to secure Rift Herald. They were immediately collapsed on and lost two members and the Herald in the ensuing fight against Team Liquid.
Despite the slow start, TL was starting to increase the tempo to snuff out Shopify. With First Blood secured at 16 minutes, they were ready to keep fighting. Mere minutes later, they clean aced Shopify to secure their third dragon, Feat of Warfare, and an 8.3k gold lead.
Team Liquid dominated multiple team fights and easily secured Cloud Soul and Baron. They easily sieged Shopify’s base and won the game in 28 minutes. Yeon alone secured more than double the kills than Shopify Rebellion’s entire team. He got 13 while Shopify only got 6.
TL dominated the early game so much, it did not matter that they did not have any kills. The moment fighting happened, they knew they would win and balloon their lead. As for Yuuji’s debut, he went 4/2/6 and held a 2.5k gold lead over his opponent. He played extremely well!
Game 2
This was a much more even early game. Shopify was playing confident and they were able to grab the first dragon. Despite a few close calls, First Blood was claimed at 8 minutes when Team Liquid won a clean 2-0 team fight, putting them just one more kill away from claiming the Feat of Warfare—which they secured a few minutes later with a gank onto Fudge.
The game turned into a strategic brawl from there. The attacking teams were masterful in sending four players while leaving one to split push and claim towers. The defining moment in the game came during the prolonged fight for the Atakhan at 20 minutes. Team Liquid pulled off the ace while only losing two members themselves and they were able to claim the objective in the end to give them a 3.1k gold lead.
After winning a few more team fights, TL claimed their third dragon and rookie jungler Yuuji was having a stellar performance of 10/0/6. They used their lead to crack open Shopify’s base, increasing their gold lead to 6.5k.
Team Liquid won the game on their very next push after APA had a beautiful four-man Neeko ult to seal the final team fight victory.
TL’s team fighting and communication was unmatched this series. They were very patient and maintained their composure throughout both games, which allowed them to be so effective wherever they went on the Rift.
100 Thieves v Disguised
Both teams understand this is an elimination series. Whoever wins get placed in the lower playoff bracket.
Game 1
Both teams were ready to brawl from the very beginning. There was a massive team fight for the first dragon, which ended with 100 Thieves winning 4-1 and securing the objective mere minutes into the series. Both Quid and FBI walked away with double kills.
100 Thieves claimed the second dragon, Feat of Strength, as well as a pick onto ADC ScarryJerry to expand their lead to 2.8k just 12 minutes into the game. By 22 minutes, the Thieves ballooned their lead to 10.7k.
They finally put Disguised out of their misery in 27 minutes.
Quid rapidly took over the game after the initial team fight at the dragon pit. He put on a clinic of how to play Ahri ending up going 12//0/10 in the game.
Game 2
100 Thieves wasted no time in looking for engages and picks. By five minutes, they claimed Feat of Warfare by getting three kills.
They slowly took over each lane and by 20 minutes, they a 5.2k gold lead with two dragons and each tier-1 turret collapsed.
Ther dominated several more team fights and closed out the series as well as Disguise’s season.
100 Thieves is a scrappy team, never afraid to throw down for even minor objectives. Disguised matched their enthusiasm and met them in every team fight but were ultimately unable to secure a single team fight victory.
100 Thieves will need to win five best-of series in a row to claim the LTA trophy.
